A Hiker’s Dream Dopp Kit

Getting my toiletries ready for this year’s annual hiking trip was a breeze. I knew we were going to be at it for a couple of days, and it couldn’t have been simpler to set up my kit because everything I needed was right there for me to choose from. I picked a durable mesh bag so I could quickly locate my gear without missing a step, confidant it would all stay together. It worked like a charm.

Getting out there into the woods took a bit of a toll on my skin, between accidentally grazing against trees and moving around brush. Keeping my skin well moisturized with the Eucerin lotion I included in my pack definitely helped. And when the thermometer rose steadily on the second day, I was extra glad I had chosen the Degree for Men antiperspirant/deodorant. Truth be told, my fellow hikers were probably equally glad I had it!

Spending time in nature, surrounded by the trees, flowering shrubs and wildflowers was spectacular, but man, that pollen was intense! I had suspected it might be, and those tissues were a lifesaver. About halfway through the third day the wind was whipping up the the trail and through the clearing - after which what needed clearing was me! Happily, all that soil, grit and pollen I was coated in came right off with the facial wipes I had selected.

Trekking back to the cabin, I’m fairly sure I could have landed a starring role on Animal Planet’s “Finding Bigfoot”. I brushed out my tangled mess with the super convenient foldable brush and mirror combo I had wisely thought to include in my kit. I soaped up with my Old Spice High Endurance body wash, followed by a quick lather, rinse, no repeat necessary with the Pert Plus 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner I had packed, some mirror time with the Edge shave gel and Gillette disposable razor and I didn’t look half bad.

Feeling more human than neanderthal once more, I realized how hungry I was! That campfire cookout food certainly stuck to my ribs...and to my teeth, which was easily remedied by the soft bristle toothbrush and Colgate toothpaste I chose. I followed that up with Dentek floss picks I was glad I had remembered to include, and a good swish of conveniently sized Colgate mouthwash and I was smiling pretty just like that.

While glamping isn’t what I seek in a wilderness adventure, neither am I the next Bear Grylls.  In the land of happy mediums, a well stocked, custom dopp kit turned out to be exactly what I needed. And next year you can be sure my fellow outdoor enthusiasts will be following suit!
